Your computer does an inventory scan in the background without any interaction, and it notices you need a total of 3 patches: Patch A, Patch B, and Patch C. It also knows that Patch A and C need a reboot to finish the installation process; however, it also knows that Patch C can't begin installation until Patch A is complete. Now you receive a message on your computer indicating that it needs to restart. This is for Patch A to finish, as Patch B is already done. After you reboot within a few minutes you receive a second message indicating your computer needs to restart. This is because Patch C now was able to install. After you reboot your computer knows it has everything it needs, and you no longer receive any messages regarding reboots.
